Hello, my name is Josh Holmbo, and I am a graduate of the Sage School of Massage & Esthetics. I am passionate about helping people feel better and supporting their bodies in healing naturally. Whether it’s through massage therapy techniques or promoting holistic wellness practices, I find immense satisfaction in seeing others improve their well-being.
Beyond my professional interests, I am an avid outdoors enthusiast. I grew up in the stunning landscapes of Central Oregon, which has deeply influenced my love for nature. You can often find me engaging in various outdoor activities such as mountain biking along rugged trails, gliding across serene waters on a paddleboard, exploring scenic hiking trails, cruising on a longboard down winding paths, or enjoying a leisurely game of disc golf among towering trees. These experiences not only keep me physically active but also help me stay connected to the natural beauty that surrounds us.
By combining my passion for wellness with my love for the outdoors, I strive to create a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle while positively impacting the lives of those around me.
Practice Philosophy
Holistic Approach: View the client as a whole person, not just a collection of muscles. Consider their lifestyle, emotional state, and physical condition to tailor the massage experience.
Client-Centered Care: Prioritize active listening and open communication to understand each client’s unique needs and goals. Customize techniques and pressure based on their feedback and comfort levels.
Mind-Body Connection: Acknowledge the interconnectedness of physical discomfort and emotional stress. Help clients release tension not just in muscles but also in their minds, fostering a sense of relaxation and well-being.
Clinical Knowledge: Ground your practice in anatomy, physiology, and pathology to ensure safe and effective treatment. Understand the biomechanics of deep tissue work to target specific muscle groups accurately.
Therapeutic Intent: Focus on addressing underlying muscular issues rather than solely providing temporary relief. Use techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching to promote lasting improvements in mobility and pain management.
Continual Learning: Stay updated with the latest research and techniques in massage therapy. Attend workshops, seek mentorship, and engage in self-reflection to refine your skills and deepen your understanding.
Empowerment and Education: Educate clients about self-care practices, such as stretching, hydration, and stress management, to complement the benefits of massage therapy. Empower them to take an active role in maintaining their well-being.
Ethical Practice: Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respect for cultural diversity in all interactions. Prioritize the welfare and comfort of clients above all else.
Collaborative Approach: When appropriate, collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as physiotherapists or chiropractors to ensure comprehensive care for clients with complex muscular issues or injuries.
Feedback and Adaptation: Regularly seek feedback from clients to gauge the effectiveness of treatments and make necessary adjustments. Embrace a growth mindset, embracing challenges as opportunities for improvement.
I decided to become a massage therapist after going to a party that someone brout a massage chair to use. I did not use it, but it got me thinking. Next thing I bout a massage table, gave out massages to some friends. I knew that I wanted to me a massage therapist. So I went to school, and now I am a massasge therapist. It is rewarding.
A little bit about me: I like to get outdoors, like paddle boarding, long boarding, mountain biking, hiking, crafting. I am not married, don't have any kids. I am interested in learning about all kinds of different things.
